Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, ask us.

Do customers need to download an app?

No. Customers scan the QR code on their table with their phone camera and the menu opens in the browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

How do orders reach the bar?

Orders appear on your live bar screen within a few seconds, with the table name in large type. The screen runs in a web browser on any tablet or laptop, plays a short chime for each new order, and staff tap once to move a ticket from New to Making to Ready.

What does DrinksQR cost?

Standard is £69 a month per venue, for up to 20 tables and one bar screen. Large is £99 a month per venue, with up to 100 tables and multiple bar screens or service points such as a bar, a terrace and a kitchen. For more than 100 tables, contact us for a quote. Prices are the full price: we're not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. Both include unlimited orders, QR card printing, the live bar screen, sold-out toggles, the back office and the English and Spanish menu. Branding is an optional add-on at +£20 a month, groups get 10% off each additional venue, and we can build your menu for a one-off setup fee from £49.

Is there a contract?

You start with a free trial, with no card needed. If you then subscribe, it's a 12-month agreement billed monthly, from £69 per venue. The term starts on the start date of your subscription and renews automatically for another 12 months unless you give at least 30 days' notice by email before the end of the term. There's no hardware to buy or return.

Can you set up our menu for us?

Yes, if you'd rather not do it yourself. We build your menu and print-ready QR cards for a one-off fee: £49 for a drinks menu, £69 for drinks plus snacks and sides, and a custom quote for a full food menu. It's optional; the back office makes it quick to do yourself.

Can I use my own branding?

Yes, with the branding add-on at +£20 a month on either plan. Your colours, logo and font run through the customer menu, the bar screen and the printed table cards, and text colours are checked automatically so everything stays readable.

Do I need special hardware?

No. The bar screen runs in the browser of any tablet, laptop or phone you already own, and customers use their own phones. You only need a printer for the table cards.

How do I print the QR codes?

Open Tables in your bar area and press Print. You get A4 sheets with four A6 table cards each, one per table, ready to cut. Each card can also be downloaded as an SVG for a print shop.

Can I mark items as sold out?

Yes. One tap on the menu screen marks an item sold out; customers see it greyed out and can't order it until you switch it back on.

Does it work in Spanish?

Yes. The customer menu, the bar screen and this site all work in English and Spanish. The menu follows the language of the customer's phone, and they can switch at any time.

How do customers pay?

At the table: staff bring the order with the card machine, so customers pay by card, contactless or cash. The bar screen shows the total on every ticket. Paying on the phone is coming soon.

Is DrinksQR GDPR compliant?

DrinksQR is built for UK GDPR: customers don't create accounts, an order only holds the table, the items and an optional first name, and analytics cookies on this site load only if you accept them. Your venue is the controller of its customers' order data and DrinksQR processes it on your behalf.

What about allergens?

Each item can list the 14 UK allergens, which customers can open on the menu, and every item reminds them to ask staff before ordering. The venue keeps responsibility for the accuracy of its allergen information.

Can people order from outside the venue?

Not easily. Every table has its own unguessable code, so orders can't be sent to a table nobody has scanned, orders are rate-limited per table, and every ticket shows the table so staff can spot anything odd. Someone holding a photo of a table code could still order, so staff deliver to the table shown.

How are age checks for alcohol handled?

Staff check ID when they bring the order to the table, exactly as they would at the bar. Alcoholic items are tagged on the menu so staff know which tickets need a check.

What does setting up involve?

Adding your menu and your tables, then printing the cards. There's nothing to install: open the bar screen in a browser and you're taking orders.

Can several staff use the same bar screen?

Yes. You add each person in the back office with their own 4 to 6 digit PIN. On the bar screen they tap their name and enter their PIN, and Switch user hands over to the next person. Every step is saved against whoever was signed in, and staff PINs never open the back office.

Can I see how long drinks take to make?

Yes. The dashboard shows service times: the average and median time from order to drink, the wait before someone starts an order, the make time and the hand-over to the table, plus a table for each member of staff. Cancelled orders aren't counted.
